Yin Yoga Every Monday from 6-7pm

Sidney Urban has been dancing ever since she was five years old. In 2017 she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at The Victorian College of the Arts where she began to flourish as an artist and explore the world of Yoga. Performing in multiple festivals around Australia and overseas led her to discover Kundalini Yoga. Sidney decided to further her practice by travelling to India where she completed her 200hr Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Course with Nada Yoga School. Since then Sidney has also completed a 50hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training Course with Mel Mclaughlin in Byron Bay. Today she teaches both Kundalini, Yin and a fusion of the two by incorporating philosophy, mantras, held poses, breath-work, meditation and more. She is also a Chakra Practitioner practicing one-on-one with clients to help guide them on their journey of chakra alignment through reiki and chanting. Sidney wishes to share these practices to help others learn how to clear their mind, release tension from their bodies and to find balance and harmony within this life

A little bit about our practitioner Sidney

How do you think your modality benefits others?
Yin Yoga is a restorative and rejuvenating practice aimed to target the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues - ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. Taking part in a Yin class can help release tension and stress from both the mind and body as you hold certain poses for about 5-10minutes at a time. It can be quite deep, relaxing and even challenging at times yet there is something magical about moving beyond the mind to find a restful place of ease.

What is your greatest strength in what you do?
Being a dancer I have always loved the benefits in stretching, calming the mind and working on flexibility. Studying Yoga has enabled me to gain knowledge on how to restore both the mind and body in between our daily routines. It feels incredibly rewarding to share with others to help them heal and find time in their day to wind down. There is beauty in finding stillness and creating space for the self. I think it's very important to do so.

In three words describe what is so special about your modality?
It's restorative, calming and healing.

Do you practice other healing methodologies?
I am also a Chakra Practitioner now taking one-on-one bookings for Chakra Healing at Thornbury Apothecary. I facilitate different workshops that involve Chakra Work, Full Moon Circles and Yin vs Yang, a workshop soon to come to Oktopia. I'm also a Contemporary Dancer and certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher.
