Erin Harvey
Remedial and Relaxation Massage Therapist
HICAPS Available for Health Funds
Erin started her studies in Remedial Massage Therapy during the pandemic, after deciding to change careers from working in childcare. Being deeply nurturing by nature, Erin knew that she still wanted to be able to offer that side of herself to others, which led her to become a remedial massage therapist. Erin was taught by industry leaders and is constantly developing her knowledge to keep up to date with current practises. During all of Erin’s treatments, she strives to develop a deep connection with each client to create a treatment plan that is realistic and will achieve the best outcome for each individual.
Erin is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9pm
A little bit about our practitioner Erin.
What inspired you to begin your modality?
Once I had started back at work in childcare, after being stood down for 6 weeks during the pandemic, I could feel that I wasn’t 100% happy. Instead of pushing through, I listened to what my heart was telling me and I had resigned a week into being back at work. I enrolled in the remedial massage course that same night. During those 6 weeks I reflected on what was really important to me, which was nurturing the people who need it the most. This included elderly people whose joints and muscles are failing them, health professionals who are forever looking after everyone else but neglecting themselves, mums who are barely keeping up with their kids and just want an hour to pause and breathe, and so many others.
How do you think your modality benefits others?
There are so many benefits to remedial massage! Not only does it increase your blood flow to areas that need it the most, it can reduce blood pressure and lower your heart rate to promote full body relaxation. It can also increase mobility and range of motion in the areas where you are feeling tension, as well as identify parts of the body that you may not have been aware were holding tension. Remedial massage is an excellent way to identify and prevent musculoskeletal ailments.
What do you love about your modality?
I love that massage allows to me to bring a sense of release and relief to my clients. From remedial treatments to relaxation treatments, each of my clients tell me how much better they feel in their bodies even after a 30-minute session. It really allows me to actively listen to each person and understand what they need from me, then to apply the massage in a way that best meets their needs.
What is your greatest strength in what you do?
My greatest strength would be me my use of intent during treatments. Each of my treatments are as full of as much intent as I can muster. This is because I want to be able to give you the best outcome that I possibly can each and every time. My intention is for you to feel as though there is an improvement from when you arrived to when you leave. Whether that be decreased stress, increased range of motion and mobility, or even just to get a better sleep at night.
What is your favourite treatment to receive yourself?
This is definitely a hard one to answer, but I cannot go past a beautiful full body relaxation massage. The pressure isn’t too intense but still feels like your tension areas are being worked on, and you feel a total sense of calm and bliss. Going home afterwards to a hot cup of tea and an arvo nap is always my recommendation. I feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it!
